more.galene: A Lullaby and Baby Sleep Sounds App
If you're looking for a lullaby app for bedtime, more.galene puts Brahms' Lullaby, quiet sleep music, and pink, brown and white noise in one place, with a sleep timer that fades out instead of cutting off. It runs on iPhone and Android, and you can start playing without signing in. I'm the developer who made it, so this is a maker's walkthrough of how the bedtime side of the app works.

What more.galene is
more.galene is a sound app built around one theme: the calm of the sea at night. It has three modes:
- Sleep — soft noise and lullabies for bedtime.
- Deep Focus — a steady sound that masks background noise while you study or work.
- Stillness — a ripple on screen grows and shrinks with a 4-4-6 breathing rhythm.
This post focuses on Sleep mode, since that's the one parents ask me about most.
Lullabies and sleep music
Sleep mode includes Brahms' Lullaby in two versions — the melody almost everyone recognizes. Alongside it is a small set of calm sleep music:
- Echoes of a Quiet Dawn (two versions)
- Rain
- Deep Sleep
- Softly Drifting
- BEACH
Baby sleep sounds: pink, brown and white noise
Some families prefer a steady "shhh" to a melody. For that, Sleep mode lets you choose pink noise, brown noise or white noise.
One detail I cared about: the noise isn't a recorded file played on repeat. The app generates it as it plays. That means there's no audible seam where a file ends and starts again — something you notice more than you'd expect when a sound runs all night.

Layer sounds into your own mix
On top of whatever is playing, you can add up to two more sounds and set the volume of each one separately. The sounds you can layer include waves, birdsong, crickets, a fireplace, cafe ambience and forest ambience.
For example, you might lay a little rain under Brahms' Lullaby, or add waves to pink noise. It's an easy way to find the combination that suits your own bedtime routine.

A sleep timer that fades out
The sleep timer offers 15 min, 30 min, 60 min, or ∞ (keep playing). When the timer is about to end, the sound starts getting quieter 8 seconds before, so it fades out rather than stopping abruptly.
Playback continues with the screen off and from the lock screen. If you leave the app open, the screen gradually dims about 30 seconds after playback starts, which is easier on the eyes in a dark room and saves battery.
The first time you play, the app shows a short guide titled "To keep playing all night." Allowing notifications — and, on Android, a battery-optimization exception — keeps playback stable with the screen off. Some Android phone makers require an extra exception in their own battery settings.
Please read this if you use it near a baby
Sleep mode has a lower maximum volume than the other modes. Even with the volume turned all the way up, it won't go past that cap.
The Sleep playback screen also keeps a safety note visible:
- Keep the device at least 2 m from the crib.
- Check on your baby in person regularly.
more.galene is a tool for playing calm sounds. It doesn't monitor your baby or replace checking on them yourself.
How it's free: credits and optional ads
more.galene is free to download. A new install comes with 3 hours of playback credits. After that, you can watch one ad in the in-app Charging Station to add 1 hour of playback.
Ads only play when you choose to watch one in the Charging Station; they never interrupt playback. And once a sound is playing, it won't stop if your credits run out partway through — it stops only when you press stop or the timer ends. Having the sound cut out in the middle of bedtime is exactly what I wanted to avoid.
FAQ
Does more.galene work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. It's available on the App Store and Google Play.
Do I need an account?
No. You can start playing without signing in.
Will it keep playing with the screen off?
Yes, including from the lock screen. On Android, allow the battery-optimization exception when the app asks, and check your phone maker's battery settings if playback still stops.
Can I play a lullaby and white noise at the same time?
Yes. Start one sound, then add up to two more from the mixer, each with its own volume.

If you try more.galene at bedtime, I'd like to hear how it fits your routine. Requests like "please add this lullaby" or "I wish it had this sound" shape the next update more than anything else. You can reach me at [email protected].
